The Inverness ketch, Leader, carrying coal and salt for  the Ross’s of Balintore, has, in a fierce storm, struck a submerged  rock ledge on the west side while entering Balintore harbour, lying on her side in the middle of the harbour the sea is reported to be breaking over her and she is breaking up.
