Two officers of the fleet had a lucky escape in the Cromarty Firth, while out sailing they capsized their craft but were spotted from the Nigg side by Thomas Vass, Balintore, a fish cadger. Along with the Nigg ferryman he went out and rescued one officer clinging to the upturned dingy, the other officer was picked up by a fleet launch.
