November 1971, it is understood that a native of Balintore, James Allan, is in line for Scottish professional youth international honours. James, who is a goalkeeper, and was transferred from Brora Rangers to Swindon Town two seasons ago, has been recommended by Swindon’s new player-manager Dave Mackay to the S.F.A. and has been invited to play in the Scottish professional youth trial at Firhill, Glasgow, next week. Dave Mackay rates 17-year-old Allan as a boy who could be a future international. He travelled to Italy with Swindon last summer, and made his first-team debut with the English club this season.
