The village of Hilton of Cadboll now contains 23 herring boats and 12 haddock boats. The harbour is no longer large enough for the trade but it is expected to be improved to accommodate boats calling in the future. Hilton of Cadboll sits halfway between the Cromarty ferry and Portmahomack and with these advantages fish curers would have little difficulty in converting it into a valuable station.
