David Skinner, born in Balintore in 1903, the ship’s painter aboard the M.V. Limerick, berthed in Fremantle, Australia, falls from a ladder into the sea while chipping paint and is drowned. Leslie Neilson, engineer, dives into the water but is unable to locate David. David’s merchant navy records state he was 5ft 8 ins tall, had blue eyes and brown hair.
