A feeble old fisherman, Alexander Morrar or MacKenzie, Balintore, left his cottage to fetch a pail of water from a nearby well. It is thought while descending the steps of the well he slipped and fell into the well, he was found face down in 2 feet of water still clutching the pail, life extinct. One of his son’s had lately perished on the ill fated Linnet. Alexander was highly respected in the village.
