Robert MacKenzie, labourer, Hilton of Cadboll, the worse for drink, assaulted another Robert MacKenzie, gardener, Tain, by striking him in the mouth with a walking stick and felling him. Robert was also charged with Breach of the Peace. The court case day was set but the accused could not wait and presented himself before Bailies Ross and Munro, Robert pleaded guilty and blamed the drink, the complainant wished to withdrawn the charge but the Bailies said it had gone to far for that and Robert was fined 15 shillings or 7 days jail, the fine was paid.
